A Serendipitous Encounter with My First Love😍

Last week, my heart was filled with joy as I attended my childhood best friend’s wedding. It was a beautiful celebration, marking the end of her singlehood and the beginning of a new chapter. While I couldn’t help but feel a pang of longing for the companionship she had found, I was genuinely thrilled for her.

The wedding surpassed all my expectations, with meticulous attention to detail in the décor. As my friend walked down the aisle in her breathtaking gown, I couldn’t contain my happiness. Little did I know that I was personally responsible for the compliments she received, as I had created the dress for her. Oh, how I wished I could speak and revel in that moment!

Amidst the festivities, an unexpected encounter took place during the afternoon session. A slender, elderly woman approached my table and inquired about someone named Nana. With a warm smile, I responded, “I’m Nana; how may I help you?” To my surprise, she expressed her gratitude for the dress I had crafted and asked if I could design her wedding gown as well. The thought of dressing another bride and the promise of financial gain filled my heart with joy. After exchanging contact information, we bid farewell.

Fast forward to this morning at 10 a.m., when a phone call interrupted my routine. It was the elderly woman, requesting me to take an Uber to her residence for a gown discussion. Her house, situated in Nyali West, exuded an air of tranquillity. Boarding a matatu and traversing through town, I was filled with anticipation.

As I entered the house, I couldn’t help but be captivated by its ambience. She graciously offered me a seat and a refreshing glass of juice. Little did I know that fate had an unexpected twist in store for me. A familiar voice reached my ears, and as I turned, my heart skipped a beat. It was him…Tony…my childhood crush, my first love, and the one who shared my first kiss.

The shock of seeing Tony, whom I had known since childhood, added another layer to the surprising encounter. He was engaged to the woman whose wedding dress I was working on. It took me a moment to compose myself, extending my hand to greet him. He, too, was taken aback, revealing to his fiancée that we were acquainted. Although I had moved on from our past, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of disbelief. I always held onto a glimmer of hope that the universe would bring us together again. Alas, fate seemed to have other plans.

Leaving that house, my mind was filled with endless wonderings. What if I had confessed my love to him ten years ago? Could I have been the one waiting to take his last name, Mrs Maina? Our young love was a bittersweet memory, a blend of emotions and sentiments we were yet to understand as love.
