1. SCENE 1: Nana’s Office
INT. NANA'S OFFICE – MORNING
“The sun's first rays pierce through the half-open blinds, casting a gentle glow across the room. We see close-ups of various items on Nana's desk: a steaming mug of coffee, a pile of paperwork, and a silver laptop displaying an inbox of unread emails. A soft hum emanates from the laptop.
The ambient sound is interrupted by the distinct buzz of a smartphone. The camera pans to Nana's desk, where her phone lies next to her laptop. The screen lights up, showing an incoming call from "Beth" with a foreign number.
Nana, a young woman with keen eyes that always seem to be plotting the next big event, gazes at the phone with a mix of curiosity and slight suspicion.”
Nana (whispering to herself, eyebrows furrowed): "Beth? Why does that name sound so... unfamiliar?"
After a moment of contemplation, she swipes to answer, holding the phone to her ear.
Beth (voice clear, carrying a distinct American accent): "Hello? Is this Nana? Hey! It's Beth, all the way from the States. I stumbled upon your event highlights on TikTok. My God, they're breathtaking! I've got a request. I need you to be the magic behind my wedding in Diani, Mombasa."
Nana's eyes widen, her posture straightens, and a grin begins to form on her face.
Nana (her voice filled with gratitude): "Oh, Beth! That's so kind of you to say. I'm truly honoured."
Beth (chuckling softly): "Well, I hope you're ready for a challenge. It's happening next month. My fiancée's already in Kenya. I'll send over his contact shortly."
Nana's excitement grows palpable as her eyes shimmer with enthusiasm.
Nana: "Next month? That's tight but challenge accepted! I can't wait!"
Beth: "That's what I wanted to hear! Talk soon."
As the call ends, Nana wastes no time. She quickly dials another number, bouncing slightly in her chair with anticipation.
Nana (voice bubbling with excitement): "Suzzy! Oh, you have no idea what just landed on our lap! Get ready – we're about to craft the wedding of the century!"
2. SCENE 2: Hotel Lobby
INT. LUXURIOUS HOTEL LOBBY – LATE AFTERNOON
“Golden chandeliers hang from the ornate ceiling, softly illuminating the opulent lobby. The floor is marble, reflecting the light in soft glows. The distant hum of conversations fills the room, occasionally punctuated by laughter.
As the elegant glass doors of the hotel swing open, in walks Suzzy. She dons a sleek black dress that complements her stilettos perfectly. Her strut is every bit as confident as it is graceful, drawing the attention of almost everyone in the lobby. Whispers and murmurs can be heard, admiring comments blending into the ambient noise.
She spots a table near a floor-to-ceiling window and takes a seat, placing her designer handbag next to her. An attentive waiter approaches her almost immediately.”
Waiter (with a polite smile): "Good afternoon, ma'am. What can I get you today?"
Suzzy (flashing a sweet smile): "A glass of Chardonnay, please."
As the waiter nods and leaves, Suzzy's phone lights up on the table. She picks it up, browses a couple of messages and apps, and then glances at the time, her expression growing slightly impatient.
Suzzy (mumbling to herself with a touch of humour): "Trust Nana to be on African time."
Just as Suzzy's impatience appears to peak, Nana bursts through the doors, slightly breathless but smiling. Her eyes instantly lock onto Suzzy's. Without a word, they both stand up and close the distance, embracing in a tight hug. As they pull away, the hint of tension is palpable.
Nana (grinning, trying to diffuse the tension): "Fashionably late, as always? Forgive my tardiness. How about a cocktail – my treat?"
Suzzy (giggling and playfully rolling her eyes): "You know exactly how to appease me, don't you?"
“They both sit down, the waiter returning with Suzzy's Chardonnay. Nana orders a mojito for herself. The atmosphere noticeably lightens as they start catching up, their conversation a mix of business and personal anecdotes. Plates of exquisite appetizers are brought to the table, and they share, the bond between them evident in their easy camaraderie.
As they talk, Suzzy pulls out an old, slightly faded photograph from her wallet and slides it across the table. The joy in Nana's eyes is replaced by a deeper, more complicated emotion as she gazes at the photo.”
Nana (voice barely above a whisper, laden with emotion): "Oh... Tony."
Suzzy, sensing the shift in mood, looks up. She catches the glistening tear forming in Nana's eye but chooses not to voice her concern, allowing the silence to convey her understanding.

A plush cream-coloured sofa faces a sleek, modern coffee table, upon which sits a vase filled with fresh lilies. Bookshelves line one wall, filled with an array of books, travel memorabilia, and family photographs. Soft jazz music plays in the background from a vinyl record player.
Nana, draped in a comfortable robe, paces around the room, lost in thought, reflecting on the day's events. Her phone, resting on the coffee table, buzzes to life with an incoming message notification. Startled, she quickly reaches for it, unlocking the screen to reveal a new message.”
Tony's Message (displayed on the screen in a bold font): "Hey there! I'm Tony, Beth's fiancée. Ready to get started on our big day?"
Nana, her eyebrows raised in surprise, quickly types out a reply, suggesting a call. After sending her a message, she selects Tony's contact and dials his number. A few tones later, the voicemail kicks in. Nana hesitates for a moment, then hangs up without leaving a message.
Returning to her text conversation with Tony, they exchange several rapid messages, discussing dates, venues, and initial plans.

Beth (with twinkling eyes): "Hey love! How's the wedding planning coming along?"
Tony (smiling reassuringly): "Just started talking with Nana. You were right about her – she seems fantastic."
Beth (sighing dreamily): "I knew she'd be the one to make our day perfect. I can't wait!"
Tony (leaning closer to the screen, his voice sincere): "Trust me, Beth, our wedding will be everything we've ever dreamed of. I promise."

INT. AIRPORT ARRIVAL TERMINAL – DAY
“The hustle and bustle of the airport surrounds Nana and Suzzy. People hurriedly move about, pulling suitcases or greeting loved ones. Overhead, a display board updates flight information.”
Suzzy (trying to spot Tony in the crowd): "Do you have any idea what he looks like?"
Nana (scrolling through her phone): "Beth sent a photo. Here." She tilts her screen to show Suzzy.
Suzzy (squinting): "Okay, I'll keep an eye out... Oh, I think that's him!" She points towards a tall, well-built man with short dark hair, emerging from the gate.
As the man, Tony, approaches, the atmosphere thickens with tension. Their eyes meet, and in that instant, a myriad of emotions flash between Nana, Suzzy, and Tony – surprise, recognition, discomfort.
Tony (pausing, carefully): "Nana? Suzzy?"
Nana (voice slightly shaky): "Tony... It's been a while."
Suzzy (trying to break the tension with humor): "Sure has. Small world, huh?"
A brief, awkward silence ensues.
Tony (clearing his throat): "Well, shall we head out?"
Nana (forcing a smile): "Of course."
INT. NANA'S CAR – DAY
“The car interior is silent except for the soft hum of the engine and the radio playing low-volume music – a mix of soulful tunes from the likes of Sam Smith and Adele. The tension inside the car is palpable. No one seems willing to break the silence.”
Suzzy (feigning interest in the scenery outside): "The city's changed a lot since you left, hasn't it, Tony?"
Tony (looking out the window, reflective): "It really has. Some things remain the same, though."
Nana (taking a deep breath): "We'll need to discuss plans for the wedding soon. Beth is very excited."
Tony (nodding): "Of course. That's why I'm here. Let's focus on that."
Suzzy (chiming in, with a hint of mischief): "And maybe catch up on old times?"
Tony (smirking): "One step at a time, Suzzy."
“The rest of the drive is filled with music and sporadic attempts at small talk, but the underlying tension remains, hinting at a shared history waiting to be uncovered.”

“The living room is bathed in warm afternoon light filtering through sheer curtains. An array of plush sofas and eclectic decor gives the space a cozy, lived-in feel. Nana sits at one end of the room, and Tony takes a seat opposite her, the physical distance mirroring the emotional space between them. Suzzy is sandwiched in the middle, sensing the need to meditate.”
Suzzy (leaning forward, a playful smile on her lips): "Remember that college trip to Nakuru? Tony, you were so convinced you could outdrink everyone."
Tony (laughing, the ice starting to break): "Oh, and I did... until that final shot. Woke up the next morning with my head in a flower pot."
Nana (chuckling): "That flower pot was a gift from my mum. You owe me one."
Suzzy (giggling): "And the karaoke night? Nana, your rendition of 'I Will Always Love You' is still legendary. The entire bar was in tears, though I'm not sure if they were laughing or genuinely moved."
Nana (laughing and blushing slightly): "I'd like to believe they were deeply touched by my performance."
Tony (smiling): "I still have that video somewhere."
Suzzy (feigning shock): "Blackmail material! We should have a karaoke rematch soon."
Nana (nodding): "It's a date."

“The car purrs as they drive along a scenic route, with vast fields on one side and the expansive ocean visible on the other. The landscape is painted with vibrant hues of green and blue, interspersed with colourful wildflowers. The tranquility of the surroundings is juxtaposed with the unspoken emotions bubbling inside the car.”
Tony (breaking the silence, voice filled with nostalgia): "This place... it's like stepping into a time machine. Do you remember the school trip we took here? We got lost trying to follow that trail."
Nana (chuckling softly): "Oh, I remember. We ended up at that tiny shack where the old woman gave us some homemade mango juice. Best I've ever had."
Tony (nodding): "And the way the stars looked that night... nothing's ever come close."
Nana (looking out, lost in thought): "Some memories just stick with you, don't they?"
The car finally pulls into a lavish garden, meticulously landscaped with roses and lilies, with a marble fountain at its center. Sultana, a vivacious woman with a warm smile, rushes to greet them.
Sultana (clasping her hands together, eyes shining): "Ah, you're here! Look at you two. A perfect match if I ever saw one. Beth is one lucky lady, Tony."
Tony (smiling politely): "Thank you, Sultana. Nana has been instrumental in making this day come together."
Nana's face stiffens slightly, her smile wavering for a moment as Sultana's words sink in. She feels an unexpected twinge in her heart, a fleeting moment of 'what if'. She quickly regains her composure, reminding herself of the task at hand.
Nana (taking a deep breath): "Let's get started, shall we? We have a wedding to plan."

7. SCENE 7: The Drive Back
INT. TONY'S CAR - EVENING
“The sky is painted with hues of orange and pink, the setting sun casting a melancholic glow on the journey. The soft hum of the car's engine and the faint rustling of leaves from outside are the only sounds for a while. Both seem lost in their thoughts, a palpable tension filling the space between them.
As the car traverses a familiar bridge, Nana's eyes fixate on the glistening water below. The reflection of the sunset on the water seems to ignite something within her.”
Nana (voice trembling): "Tony... there's something I need to say."
Tony, sensing the gravity, slows down and parks the car to the side. He turns to face her, his expression one of genuine concern.
Nana (teary-eyed, struggling with her words): "All these years... I tried so hard to move on, to forget the past. But every song, every place, every memory... they all brought me back to you. Every single day, I hoped, wished, even prayed that maybe... just maybe... fate would have a twist for us, bring us back together."
Tony's face is a mix of shock and realization. He reaches out, gently holding her face, brushing away the tears that have started to flow freely.
Tony (voice choked with emotion): "Nana... I've spent nights lying awake, wondering 'what if'. You've no idea how much I've missed... us. The laughter, the fights, the shared dreams..."
“They lean in, finding solace in a deep, heartfelt embrace. The world outside fades as, for that one moment, it's just the two of them, united by a bond that time couldn't sever.”

INT. NANA'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
“The room is dimly lit, the soft glow from a single lamp painting a serene atmosphere. There's an undercurrent of nervous energy, as Tony and Nana stand at opposite ends, unable to find the right words.”
Tony (taking a deep breath): "Nana, before Beth arrives, I need to be honest with you. And with myself."
“Nana nods slowly, her eyes searching his for a hint of what's to come.”
Tony: "I thought time would fade our memories, but being back here, seeing you again... it's like everything was only yesterday. I can't go on with this wedding, knowing what I feel for you."
Nana (voice barely audible): "Tony... I feel the same way. But we can't just..."
Before she can finish, the door swings open. Beth stands there, her face a canvas of shock and understanding. She must've heard their confession.
There's a deafening silence, only broken by Beth's shaky breaths.
Beth (teary-eyed, but with a sad smile): "I always thought our love was strong, Tony. But seeing you both now, I realize that true love speaks louder than words. It's evident in your eyes, your actions. I can't stand in the way of that."
Nana (guilt-ridden): "Beth, I'm so sorry."
Beth (voice breaking but strong): "Sometimes, destiny has its own plans. I just wish you both had found each other sooner. I hope you find happiness."
“She turns away, leaving behind a room filled with mixed emotions.”
“Tony and Nana are left, grappling with the weight of their decisions and the unexpected turn their lives have taken. They sit side by side, seeking comfort in their rediscovered connection.”
