INT. AIRPORT ARRIVAL TERMINAL – DAY
“The hustle and bustle of the airport surrounds Nana and Suzzy. People hurriedly move about, pulling suitcases or greeting loved ones. Overhead, a display board updates flight information.”
Suzzy (trying to spot Tony in the crowd): “Do you have any idea what he looks like?”
Nana (scrolling through her phone): “Beth sent a photo. Here.” She tilts her screen to show Suzzy.
Suzzy (squinting): “Okay, I’ll keep an eye out… Oh, I think that’s him!” She points towards a tall, well-built man with short dark hair, emerging from the gate.
As the man, Tony, approaches, the atmosphere thickens with tension. Their eyes meet, and in that instant, a myriad of emotions flash between Nana, Suzzy, and Tony – surprise, recognition, discomfort.
Tony (pausing, carefully): “Nana? Suzzy?”
Nana (voice slightly shaky): “Tony… It’s been a while.”
Suzzy (trying to break the tension with humor): “Sure has. Small world, huh?”
A brief, awkward silence ensues.
Tony (clearing his throat): “Well, shall we head out?”
Nana (forcing a smile): “Of course.”
INT. NANA’S CAR – DAY
“The car interior is silent except for the soft hum of the engine and the radio playing low-volume music – a mix of soulful tunes from the likes of Sam Smith and Adele. The tension inside the car is palpable. No one seems willing to break the silence.”
Suzzy (feigning interest in the scenery outside): “The city’s changed a lot since you left, hasn’t it, Tony?”
Tony (looking out the window, reflective): “It really has. Some things remain the same, though.”
Nana (taking a deep breath): “We’ll need to discuss plans for the wedding soon. Beth is very excited.”
Tony (nodding): “Of course. That’s why I’m here. Let’s focus on that.”
Suzzy (chiming in, with a hint of mischief): “And maybe catch up on old times?”
Tony (smirking): “One step at a time, Suzzy.”
“The rest of the drive is filled with music and sporadic attempts at small talk, but the underlying tension remains, hinting at a shared history waiting to be uncovered.”
